We dedicated our September workshop to talk to our social partners and stakeholders about Spending allowances will, with a clear focus on health.
To feedback what we’ve been working on since we last met and how your feedback is shaping our plans and direction around partnership working.
Specifically, we wanted to discuss our Spending allowances well (health focus) strategy with our social partners.
We wanted to share our future strategy and focus, to discuss what else our partners felt we should be doing, what else should influence our strategy and identify any emerging risks and issues we ought to consider.
Fuel Poverty in Schools
You told us that we should look to establish centres for warmth to support homework clubs and provide hot meals.
Health Focus
You told us to begin collaborating with Diabetes UK and similar charities, locally and nationally.
After an initial meeting with Diabetes UK to discuss a potential VCMA project and provide further VCMA information, the team are currently developing a project proposal and plan in order to submit for review.
Reduced mobility
You told us to target rural coastal areas with ageing populations, and asked if it would be possible to build a VCMA project that reduces the risk of falls due to older people living in cold homes with reduced mobility.
We have started discussions, linking in the NHS and Age Uk as part of the wider group. We will provide a further update on this action in due course.
