Objectives

We wanted to use this YIC session to gather the YIC’s perspective on valuable work experience elements, and to explore an ideal work experience placement including structure, knowledge areas, and skill development. It was also important to identify ways that NGN can offer a work experience programme that is engaging, practical, and beneficial for both the business and young people.

Your comments & our responses

A community approach

You said that NGN should include a group challenge or task to ensure candidates feel part of a community while completing their work experience placement.

We are now working to complete the matrix work experience exercise that was generated by the YIC members during the session.

Future programmes

You said that NGN should consider leveraging new technologies or software in the future such as VR and AI.

We are now working to build 2-3 Test days for review, with input from NGNs Stakeholder Team and Net Zero Education Team. This will then be available for the council members to test.
